This specimen was lot 35378 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $558. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Basel. 5 Batzen, 1809. PCGS MS-66. Lustrous prooflike surfaces. Old green holder." This type was struck 1809-10 while the canton was under Napoleonic domination. The last five batzen was struck in 1826. Forty batzen made a thaler.
