Sincona sale 9, lot 5249

This specimen was lot 5249 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$885 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Basel - Batzen 1805. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, batzen of 1805, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

The SCWC notes this type for 1805 only. A similar type struck for the canton (KM-196) was issued 1805-10 and is more common.
