Künker sale 264, lot 3827
Stolberg in 1789, with Wernigerode to the northwest near Halberstadt

This specimen was lot 3827 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €5,500 (about US$7,105 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STOLBERG-STOLBERG UND STOLBERG-ROSSLA, GRAFSCHAFTEN (DIE JÜNGERE STOLBERGER HAUPTLINIE AUS DER TEILUNG VON 1645) Friedrich Botho zu Stolberg-Rossla und Karl Ludwig zu Stolberg-Stolberg, 1761-1768. Dukat 1762, Stolberg. Zwölfendiger Hirsch mit erhobenem rechten Vorderlauf steht nach l. vor gekrönter Säule//Dreifach behelmtes, mehrfeldiges Wappen, zwischen der Helmzier die geteilte Jahreszahl 1 - 7 - 6 - 2, unten zu den Seiten die geteilte Signatur I · E · - V · C (Julianus Eberhard Volkmar Claus, Münzmeister in Stolberg 1750-1765). GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Attraktives, vorzügliches Exemplar. (counties of Stolberg-Stolberg and Stolberg-Rossla, joint rule of Frederick Botho and Charles Louis, 1761-68, ducat of 1762, Stolberg mint. Twelve point stag with raised right foreleg standing left before winning column // triple helmeted, manifold arms; in the crest, the split date 1 - 7 - 6 - 2, down to the sides of the divided signature I·E· - V·C (Julian Eberhard Volkmar Claus, Master of the Mint in Stolberg 1750-1765). Very rare, attractive extremely fine.)"
