This specimen was lot 2983 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 475 CHF (about US$640 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. Dukat 1888, Wien. Vorzüglich. (empire of Austria-Hungary, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, ducat of 1888, Vienna mint. Extremely fine.)"
Gold ducats were struck throughout Franz Josef's long reign and come in many types. This design was struck 1872-1915 without mintmark and is common. The 1915 has been restruck and is readily available for its bullion value.
