Austria 1889 ducat Fr-493
This specimen was lot 1843 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$480 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916 Dukat 1889 A. Wien. FDC. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph, 1848-1916, ducat of 1889, Vienna mint. Uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1872-1914 and is common. The SCWC notes that more were restruck after World War One but does not state which dates. No mintmark appears on this type. Gold ducats were struck throughout Franz Josef's long reign and come in many types.
