Sincona sale 101, lot 2861

This specimen was lot 2861 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$754 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN Qajar Dynasty, Fath-'Ali Shah, 1212-1250 AH (1797-1834). Toman 1234 AH (1819), Borujerd Mint. PCGS MS62. Das durch PCGS höchstbewertete Exemplar, Finest certified by PCGS."

This style is called "type W" in the SCWC and was used AH 1231-1240. Other mints for this style include Hamadan, Yerevan, Isfahan, Kashan, Khoy, Kirmanshahan, Qazvin, Rasht, Shiraz, Tabriz, Tehran, Yazd and Zanjan. The toman was reduced to 3.45 g in AH 1245.
