Sincona sale 88, lot 175

This specimen was lot 175 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 312 CHF (about US$412 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Fath-'Ali Shah, 1212-1250 AH (1797-1834). Riyal 1234 AH (1819), Tehran Mint. Selten; Rare. NGC MS62. Purchased from Moussesian, Munich, in 1988."

This silver denomination was struck at numerous mints during the reign of Fath 'Ali Shah. This style and weight standard is listed in the SCWC as type D and was used AH 1232-1239.
