Shown is an 1801MoFT 8 reales, one of a type struck 1791-1808. Assayer FT is recorded for the years 1801-03. The 8 reales of Charles IV is the commonest Mexican colonial coin, rivaled only by the following 8 reales of Ferdinand VII (1808-21). Mintages are not known but must have been in the millions to account for the number of survivors. This type is available in all grades although nice Uncirculated pieces can be expensive.
