This specimen was lot 2049 in Jean Elsen sale 160 (Brussels, November 2024), where it sold for €280 (about US$355 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, PRUSSE, Wilhelm Ier (1861-1888), AR Vereinstaler, 1866 A. Patine inégale. Superbe à Fleur de Coin. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William I, 1861-1888, silver union thaler of 1866. Uneven toning, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1864-71 at Berlin (A), Hannover (B) and Frankfurt (C) in large quantities. This is the second most common date after the 1867-A.
Recorded mintage: 23,909,072, a common date.
Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver, 33 mm diameter, lettered edge.
