This specimen was lot 34552 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $690. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia: Alexander II Rouble 1881 CПБ-HФ AU58 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, Well struck with reddish-gold toning. There is little, or no, rubbing on the high points." This type was struck 1859-85 in respectable quantities but not so many as the prior type (Dav-283). Assayer's initials HΦ = Nicolai Follendorf, who operated 1877-82.

Recorded mintage: 699,000.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver.
