This specimen was lot 31294 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $293.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles IV gold 2 Escudos 1797 Mo-FM AU Details (Removed from Jewelry) NGC, Mexico City mint. Featuring a remarkably bold portrait surrounded by bright surfaces that present even wear and moments of darker tone. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." All Mexican colonial gold may be considered scarce. The type was struck 1791-1808 and is the most plentiful of all the colonial two escudos.
