This specimen was lot 75684 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 2 Escudos, 1797-S CN. Seville Mint. Charles IV. NGC AU Details--Obverse Scratched. An attractive honey-colored example with splashes of cobalt, russet, and plum toning around the peripheries. The noted scratch is a barely perceptible shallow mark in front of the king's face and neck." Assayer CN is listed for 1791-1808.
