Choice with no corrosion and bold, nearly complete pillars and cross, bent from clip mark on edge, very scarce provenance. With generic certificate from the salvor. Recovered from: HMS ''Assurance'', sunk in 1753 off Isle of Wight, south of England." The fineness of the cobs was lowered from 0.931 to 0.917 in 1725. This two reales was struck in this alloy 1729-47 with assayer "q" noted for 1744-59. Assayer "C" also occurs for 1744; both are priced the same.
