This type was struck 1887-92 and is known as the "Jubilee head" for Queen Victoria (r. 1837-1901). It is a fairly readily available half crown in nice condition and none of the dates are rare. This specimen was lot 3895 in Goldberg sale 85 (Los Angeles, June 2015), where it sold for $329. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Halfcrown, 1891. Victoria. Obverse, Jubilee portrait of Queen left. Reverse crowned shield in garter. Beautifully toned uncirculated. Pastel shades of green and rose gold. This is an exceptionally tough date to acquire in the finest grades. Catalogues £350 (around $525) in basic Unc. NGC graded MS-64."
Recorded mintage: 2,265,000.
Specification: 14.14 g, 0.925 fine silver, .420 troy oz ASW.
