Production dropped some 10,000 coins in 1856, although today's survivors number about the same as the 1854 and 1855. This is a very scarce date, and finding an example with original, problem-free surfaces can be extremely difficult. This example shows wholly original, green-gold coloration over crusty patina, with luster peeking through.
Recorded mintage: 28,457.
Specification: 21.6 mm diameter, 8.359 g, 0.900 fine gold, .2418 troy oz AGW, reeded edge.
