The Dahlonega mint in Georgia minted small numbers of gold 2½, five and ten dollar pieces 1838-61. The low mintages and the romance of the Lost Cause makes them highly sought after and very expensive. Many survivors are in low grade and harshly cleaned.

Specification: 21.6 mm diameter, 8.359 g, 0.900 fine gold, .2418 troy oz AGW, reeded edge.
