United States 1855-C 5 dollars

PCGS XF-45 ~ White Oak River Collection

The 1855-C Half Eagle is nearly as rare as the 1854-C and 1856-C. This trio represents a small group of the toughest dates in the 1850 - 1859 run. The date logotype used shows the slanting "5"s used on all gold coins of 1855. This example exhibits very appealing, green-gold and crusty surfaces.

Specification: 21.6 mm diameter, 8.359 g, 0.900 fine gold, .2418 troy oz AGW, reeded edge.
