This specimen was lot 2422 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 10,000 CHF (about US$11,871 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Schlesien-Liegnitz-Brieg, Herzogtum. Johann Christian und Georg Rudolf, 1602-1621 5 Dukaten 1610. Sehr selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg, John Christian and George Rudolph, 1602-21, five ducats of 1610. Very rare, Very fine-extremely fine.)"
This type is noted as struck using thaler dies. Silesia is considered a German State even tho the province was then under Austrian rule and is now in Poland.
Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.
Specification: 17.5 g, .986 gold, .554 troy oz AGW, this specimen 17.37 g.
