Sincona sale 82, lot 1674

This specimen was lot 1674 in Sincona sale 82 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 2,800 CHF (about US$3,747 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "James II. 1685-1688. 1/2 Guinea 1686, London. Laureate bust, elephant and castle below. NGC AU Details. Leicht bearbeitet (lightly tooled)." This variety, with the elephant and castle below the bust, was struck 1686 only and is rare.
