This specimen was lot 1683 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $2,173.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 4 Daler Plate Money, 1735. Fredrik I (1720-51). 10.25 x 10 in. (Tingstrom: 112 examples known including 26 pieces from the Nicobar). Stamps well applied with only a mild unevenness. Center stamp is nearly full with corner stamps displaying four full legible dates and one partial date. Mild scattered verdigris. Choice even dark chocolate patina. EXTREMELY FINE." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = one mark and 96 öre = one riksdaler. This type was issued 1720-46 and is the most common four daler plate. Millions were made but most were melted down to make other copper or bronze objects.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3023 g, copper.
