This specimen was issued by Iran as a one year only commemorative of the 50th anniversary of Pahlavi rule. The dating in MS (Monarchical rule) was adopted for only three years (1976-1978) before returning to SH (solar year). All of this confusion would come to an end in 1979, when the Islamic revolution returned dating to the more traditional AH (Islamic lunar year) system.
Recorded mintage: 37,144,000.
Specification: 4.54 g, copper-nickel, 24.8 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 1207.
