Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74143
SB223-74143r.jpg

This specimen was lot 74143 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Friesland. Ducat, 1617. NGC AU-53. A sunny and limitedly handled example, this wholesome piece delivers strong details and bright luster throughout and is only limitedly handled." Altho this ducat is noted for 1588-1693, it earns a premium as Friesland was a less prolific issuer of coinage.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-223, KM 13.
