This specimen was lot 4341 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €3,000 (about US$3,926 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, SACHSEN-GOTHA, HERZOGTUM, AB 1672 SACHSEN, Ernst der Fromme, 1640-1675. 1/4 Taler 1675, Gotha, auf seinen Tod. Von großer Seltenheit. Prachtvolle Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Gotha, Ernest, 1640-75, quarter thaler of 1675, on his death. Very rare, mint luster, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
The original Saxe-Gotha lapsed in 1638, only to be revived in 1640 for this duke. It lapsed again in 1680.
