Mexico 1919-M 20 centavos

CNG Lissner sale, lot 1944

This specimen was lot 1944 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Richard Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $181.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO, Estados Unidos Mexicanos. 1905-pres. AR 20 Centavos. Ciudad de México (Mexico City) mint. Dated 1919 M. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 66. Gem toned uncirculated with very satiny surfaces. Smaller type of 1919 and none graded higher. A relatively rare coin and especially rare in this grade. Purchased from Art Garnett, 1968." The twenty centavos of 1905-14 (KM 435) was 5 g, 0.800 fine; this one year type minted in the final phase of the Revolution is 3.62 g, 0.800 fine, and the final silver type of 1920-43 (KM 438) was 3.33 g, 0.720 fine. Tho the SCWC awards this date a premium, it is not rare.
