This specimen was lot 30194 in Heritage Sale 3115 (Chicago, May 2024), where it sold for $900. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Great Britain]]: Victoria gold "St. George" Sovereign 1878 MS61 PCGS. From the Ezen Collection." This type was struck 1871-85 in considerable numbers. The obverse was carried over from the type of 1838-74 but the reverse revived the St. George and the dragon design last used in 1825.
