This specimen was lot 23487 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI Matte Specimen Dollar 1939, Specimen 67 PCGS, a spectacular example with rich blue-green and russet patina, highly attractive if you appreciate 'color' on your silver coins." This commemorative struck for a Royal Visit was made and saved in large numbers and is common in all grades except for the scarce specimen finish.

Recorded mintage: 1,363,816.

Specification: 0.800 fine silver, .600 troy oz ASW, designed by T. H. Paget and Emanuel Hahn.
