This specimen was lot 23275 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $22,325. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI Specimen Dollar 1938, Specimen 65 PCGS, very lightly toned with full mint bloom, the bust details are superb with a delicate satiny finish. Very rare date in Specimen. PCGS: 3 in this grade with 1 higher. From The MacLeod Collection of Canada Specimen, Proof, and Prooflike Dollars." The SCWC lists this type for 1937, 1938, 1945-47 with the 1937 being the only common date.
