This specimen was lot 23279 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $9,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI Specimen Dollar 1945, Specimen 66+ PCGS, highly reflective surfaces with a light appealing cameo frost to the bust. Very rare quality for this date as a Specimen. PCGS: 1 in this grade and 2 higher. From The MacLeod Collection of Canada Specimen, Proof, and Prooflike Dollars." The SCWC lists this type for 1937, 1938, 1945-47 with the 1937 being the only common date.
