This specimen was lot 23483 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description^[1] noted, "George VI 50 Cents 1946 Design in 6, MS60 ICCS, lustrous surfaces with typical small surface marks, scarce variety in mint state. From The Nikita Collection." This type was struck 1937-47 with the wartime issues of 1940-45 being the most common. This "hoof in 6" variety carries a substantial premium. Silver was removed from the fifty cent piece in 1968.

Specification: 11.66 g, 0.800 fine silver, .300 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, 29.72 mm diameter, designed by G. E. Kruger-Gray.
