Bolivia 1776 2 reales Rosenblum 42-159.jpg

This type was struck in Bolivia 1773-89. Two assayers are recorded for 1776, JR (scarce, shown here) and PR (common). Harris[1] notes that Potosi two reales of Charles III are the commonest mint, ahead of Mexico City. This specimen is from a recent William Rosenblum sale (Littleton, CO, February 2012), where it sold for $151.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: Cayón-11569, KM 53.
