This specimen was lot 6903 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $564. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAURITIUS. 200 Rupees, 1971. NGC MS-68. The first gold coin struck as an independent member of the Commonwealth of Nations. Rich orange gold color with full satin cartwheel luster." This is the only issue of the denomination.

Recorded mintage: 2,500 plus 750 proofs.

Specification: 15.96 g, 0.917 fine gold (same standard as a British double sovereign).
