France 1735A dixieme ecu rev DSLR.jpg

Shown is a 1735-A dixième d'écu aux branches d'olivier of the Paris mint (mintmark "A"). This coin was part of the great coinage reform of Cardinal Fleury which finally terminated the manipulations which had disrupted the economy since the 1690's. This very rare date is mentioned but not priced in Droulers or Gadoury. The conspicuous overdate is not mentioned. The tenth écu was the ancien régime version of a dime tho never struck in sufficient numbers to really convert France to a decimal currency.

Recorded mintage: unknown but very scarce.

Specification: 2.25 g, 0.917 fine silver, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.

Catalog reference: Dr/4 № 849, Dr/2 № 582, KM 481.1 (unlisted date).
