This specimen was lot 23817 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,500.01. The catalog description[2] noted, "Louis XV gold 1/2 Louis d'Or 1735-BB, AU58 NGC, unlisted date and mintmark in the SCWC, highly lustrous and bold, very attractive and presumably rare." This type is recorded for France for 1726-39 but all the dates are rare with the possible exception of the 1726-A. Droulers[1] lists issues for Strasbourg for 1726, 1732 and 1734-35 but all are rare.

Recorded mintage: 400[1].

Specification: 4.08 g, 0.917 fine gold, 20 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
