This specimen was lot 1550 in Jean Elsen sale 112 (Brussels, March 2012) where it sold for € 225 ($352 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, WESTPHALIE, Jérôme Napoléon (1807-1813), AR Konventionstaler, 1811 C, Cassel. Grande tête. Droit : Tête l. à droite. Revers : Valeur et date dans le champ. Ref.: Petit coup dans le champ. Très Beau. (Germany, kingdom of Westphalia, Jerome Napoleon, 1807-13, silver convention thaler of 1811, large head. Obverse: laureate head to right' reverse: value and date in field. Small nick in field, very fine.)"
This type was struck in Cassel 1810-12. When Jerome, Napoleon's brother, started showing signs of thinking independently, he was deposed and the kingdom annexed to France. At the Congress of Vienna, the area was restored to its former lords, Hannover and Prussia.
