The specimen shown is an quart d'écu aux palmes struck at the Paris mint during the reign of Louis XIV of France. It was lot 1381 in CGB sale 31 (Paris, June 2007). It succeeded the quart d'écu aux 8 L struck 1690-93 and was superseded by the quart d'écu aux insignes struck 1701-03. It is more common than either type and the 1694-A is a common date.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common (all flans reformées)[1].

Specification: 6.86 g, .917 fine silver, 27-28 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Joseph Roëttiers.
