The first specimen was lot 2979 in Sincona sale 23 (Zurich, May 2015), where it sold for 625 CHF (about US$785 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR/ÖSTERREICH, Matthias, 1612-1619 Taler 1616. Kuttenberg. Gutes sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Matthias (1612-19), thaler of 1616, Kuttenberg mint, good very fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 1788 in Sincona sale 22 (Zurich, May 2015), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$879 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"ÖSTERREICH, Matthias, 1612-1619 Taler 1616. Kuttenberg. Sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Matthias (1612-19), thaler of 1616, Kuttenberg mint, good very fine)"
The SCWC lists this type for 1613-19 under Bohemia. Kuttenberg, now Kutná Hora, was indeed in Bohemia, but was run by the Hapsburgs as an ordinary branch mint. The town was devastated during the Thirty Years War and the mines fell into ruin. A rare double thaler (Dav-3070) also exists.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, the first specimen 29.04 g, the second specimen 28.90 g.
