Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 3637
Bremen Stacks Jan15-3637r.jpg

This specimen was lot 3637 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $734.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Bremen. Taler, 1864-B. NGC MS-65. Inscription on reverse reads: 'Memorial Thaler, for the opening celebration of the new exchange in Bremen, on 5 November. 1864.' Mintage of only 5,000 pieces. The only specimen at this grade by NGC, with only two others graded higher. Very sharp details. Toned. A very appealing piece. From the Rockaway Collection." Davenport notes this as privately issued, which is why the SCWC excludes it for the regular listings.

Recorded mintage: 5,000.

Specification: 17.53 g, .986 fine silver, lettered edge.

Catalog reference: Dav-627; Bruce-M1.
