This specimen is a [[Spain|Spanish]] quarter real struck at Burgos, Cuenca, Granada (shown here), Segovia, Toledo and Valladolid in 1566. As thirty four maravedis made a real, this coin was worth 8½ maravedis. IT was theoretically made from ''vellon'' (debased silver) but we don't see any evidence of anything other than copper on this specimen.
