This specimen was lot 7470 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Pahlavi, SH 1350 (1971). Tehran Mint. Pahlavi. PCGS MS-64. A brilliant and pleasing coin with full satiny luster." This type, struck SH 1330-1353 during the reign of Muhammed Reza Shah (r. 1941-79), was minted to the standard of a British sovereign. Gold 2½, five and ten pahlavis also exist. The coins generally trade as bullion.
Recorded mintage: 60,000.
Specification: 8.136 g, 0.900 fine gold.
