India 1913(b) 2 annas

from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71684

This specimen was lot 71684 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $90. The catalog description^[1] noted, "INDIA. 2 Annas, 1913-(B). Bombay Mint. PCGS MS-65+ Gold Shield. This sublime Gem presents satiny surfaces that are further accentuated by a subtly iridescent tone and some emerging brilliance." This two annas was struck at the Bombay mint before World War One. The type was struck 1912-17 and is common in all grades but still makes a handsome coin in nice condition. It was converted to copper-nickel in 1918 and struck in that alloy until 1941.

Recorded mintage: 5,461,000 plus more from Calcutta.
