This specimen was lot 39540 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $381.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 10 Soles, 1957. NGC MS-67. KEY DATE. Tied with one other piece for finest graded at PCGS and NGC. Bright shimmering untoned luster." This denomination, struck 1956-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, twenty, fifty and hundred soles.
Recorded mintage: 1,300.
Specification: 4.61 g, .900 fine gold, .132 troy oz AGW.
