This specimen was lot 767 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,440 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Peru, Republik seit 1879. 50 Soles 1957. Prachtexemplar. NGC MS66. (republic of Peru, since 1879, fifty soles of 1957. Most attractive piece, uncirculated.)"
This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, twenty and hundred soles.
Recorded mintage: 11,000.
Specification: 23.405 g, 0.900 fine gold, .677 troy oz AGW.
