This specimen was lot 23106 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $223.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 5 Soles, 1957. PCGS MS-66 Secure Holder. Mintage of only 2,146 pieces. From the Blue Moon Collection." This denomination, struck 1956-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold ten, twenty, fifty and hundred soles.
