Steve Album sale 39, lot 2395

This specimen was lot 2395 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Mahmud II, 1839-1861, AR 30 para, Kostantiniye, AH1223 year 19, a fantastic quality mint state example! PCGS graded MS66." In general, thirty para made a zolota and forty para made a kurush, altho frequent devaluations made a hash of the system. This type, included in the sixth issue, is listed for years 17-21 and is not supposed to come in Uncirculated.

Recorded Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.600 fine silver, 3.0-3.4 g.
