This specimen was lot 2345 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $65.45. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Mahmud II, 1808-1839, AR 20 para, Kostantiniye, AH1223 year 21, PCGS graded MS62." This type was struck years 21-22. Debasement was continuous throughout the sultan's reign and coinage types were usually shortlived. Regnal year 21 (AH 1243) corresponded to July 1827-July 1828.
