Saxony 1665-CR thaler Dav-7619
This specimen was lot 4444 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,513 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Johann Georg II., 1656-1680. Reichstaler 1665, Dresden. Gesamttaler. R Hübsche Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (electorate of Saxony, John George II, 1656-80, thaler of 1665, Dresden mint. Rare, handsome patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type is listed for 1658-68 and is fairly common. It was issued concurrently with Dav-7617, which shows the electoral cap on the table instead of the plumed helmet shown here. Confusingly, the SCWC lists this item with a photo of Dav-7617 and cross-references KM 476 to Dav-7617.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 29 g, silver, this specimen 29,00 g.
