Nottinghamshire 1811 shilling token D-4
This specimen was lot 3131 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN: AR shilling token, 1811, Newark silver token, facade of Newark Town Hall with NEWARK SILVER TOKEN FOR ONE SHILLING around and "TOWN HALL / 1811" in exergue // T. STANSALL / CHAs MOOR / RICHd FISHER / Wm FILLINGHAM / Wm READETT / AND / T. WILSON. with THE CURRENT VALUE - PAYABLE IN CASH NOTES around, beautifully lustrous, a few hairlines, engrailed edge, Unc." This token is not considered a Conder token, being issued after Conder wrote his book, but is often included with them as part of the vast array of British private tokens issued before the Royal mint was reformed in 1816.
