Künker sale 406, lot 3904

This specimen was lot 3904 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,099 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz Josef I. 1848-1916. 4 Dukaten 1913, Wien. 13,76 g Feingold. GOLD. Winz. Randfehler, kl. Kratzer, vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, four ducats of 1913, Vienna mint. Some edge nicks and hairlines, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1872-1915 in substantial numbers but the 1915 restrike is most commonly seen.

Recorded mintage: 51,597.

Specification: 13.96 g, 0.986 fine gold, 0.442 troy oz AGW.
