Sincona 35, lot 5456

This specimen was lot 5456 in Sincona sale 35 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,018 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Zurich | Stadt, Taler o. J. (1550). Von Stampfer. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (city of Zürich, undated thaler, circa 1550. Almost extremely fine-extremely fine.)"

Davenport lists this type with numerous varieties for 1554-61, but we defer the auction catalog and attribute this to 1550.

Recorded Mintage: unknown.
