Sincona sale 98, lot 4594

This specimen was lot 4594 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 2,250 CHF (about US$3,264 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zug, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Kreuzer 1694, Zug. Grosser Schild mit blumenverziertem Querbalken. Das Revers vom selben Rückseitenstempel wie das 20 Kreuzerstück von 1692. Selten. Sehr schön. Minimales Zainende. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zug, Obverse: Large shield with a floral bar. The reverse bears the same die as the 20 Kreuzer piece from 1692. Rare, Very Fine, Minimal edge clip.)"

This type was struck 1692 and 1694. In the late seventeenth century, one thaler was ninety kreuzer, making this coin 2/9 of a thaler.
